Are these false positives for virus detection and can they be safely ignored?ġ. Note that your AVG Clear Tool also has 4/62 virus detection in VirusTotal online scanner. It gave me the message "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\avgclear.exe is not a valid Win32 application." I did some research on your support forum pages from other users with a similar issue and downloaded your avgclear.exe program to remove old traces of the program. I have tried uninstalling AVG Free AntiVirus and deleting the AVG folder in C:\Program Files, then reinstalling the latest version of AVG Free, and the same issue came up. The red "X" doesn't go away after rebooting the PC and also doesn't go away after uninstalling and reinstalling AVG Free AntiVirus. I have also enclosed a picture of the application after clicking on the red "X" icon here: I have enclosed a screenshot of what the red "X" issue looks like in the taskbar here: It was working well, but now the taskbar shows the AVG icon with a red "X" through it and the message " AVG AntiVirus: WARNING, your system is UNSECURED." I have had AVG Free AntiVirus on this PC for several years with no issues.Ībout two weeks ago, I updated the virus definitions and program core from within the program. I have a PC running Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 3. I am posting this message requesting help with a recent issue. Dear AVG Customer Support (and Support Forum Members),
